A new acoustic paradigm.
Louis-Auguste Buffet and Hyacinthe Klosé were the first great innovators in the history of the clarinet in the 19th century, adapting Boehm's mobile rings and rethinking the sound signature with the design of the first polycylindrical bores. Robert Carrée, figure emblematic of Buffet Crampon in the 20th century, with the collaboration of Jacques Lancelot, perfected the fundamental acoustic techniques and sublimated the concept of polycylindricity of our families of bores by creating the two legendary clarinets R13 and RC, released respectively in 1954 and 1975. At the end of the 20th century, Buffet Crampon revolutionized the structure of the raw material with the Green-LinE. Today, we are beginning the revolution of the 21st century: a longer B-flat clarinet that pushes all the possibilities. Eric Baret and our four test musicians Michel Arrignon, Nicolas Baldeyrou, Marin Fröst, Paul Meyer, are proud to present the BCXXI to you.

The choice of innovation
IMAGINE …. The bottom joint of a B-flat clarinet elongated by several centimeters in which a judiciously placed resonance hole allows the low E-flat to vibrate with a full and woody sound, and more generally the entire lower register thanks to its limited flaring for the benefit of a longer cylinder. A shorter bell which no longer determines the accuracy of the fundamental notes E/B and F/C but which serves as a resonator for the entire clarinet. A surprisingly stable and easy high register thanks in particular to this elongated lower body. A third medium B-flat fingering which makes the entire bore of the instrument vibrate to produce a full and perfectly pitched sound. This new mechanism will also allow the musician to create new sequences without changing register or revisiting certain fingerings used in the pieces of the repertoire.
The balance of the left hand, notably G♯ / C♯, D/A, have been especially optimized. A slight ergonomic bump on the D hole to keep the fingers of the left hand on the same horizontal plane. Rediscover with pleasure all the pieces in the repertoire which include a low E-flat and those written in A to B-flat. Finally, imagine a weight equivalent to a traditional clarinet thanks to its shorter bell and carbon wire ferrules.
