Lester Alexis Chio Alonso
Clarinet
Clarinet teacher of the Gustave Charpentier Conservatory of the City of Paris and the Conservatory of St Cloud.
Born in Havana, Cuba, he began his musical studies at the Guillermo Tomàs Conservatory.
After having graduated from state as clarinet instrumentalist-teacher in Cuba , he joined as titular clarinettist, the Phillarmonique Orchestra of Cali and the position of clarinet teacher of the Conservatory A.M. Valencia, attached to the Cali Institute of Fine Arts in Colombia. Lester Chio Alonso is a winner of the Amadeo Roldàn national competitions in Cuba, where he won first prize twice, then a First Prize at the Spring Festival -International competition, in Korea. He was a member of the World Orchestra and the Orchestre Français des Jeunes, performing at the Phillharmonie de Berlin, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig … Arrived in France in 2000, he joined the training cycle of the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris, (C.N.R) in the clarinet class of Richard Vieille, as well as the orchestra department (Gilbert Audin and Jacques Mercier) and chamber music (Paul Boufil).
He participates in productions (Opéra de Lyon-Orchestre des Pays de Savoie) of Lady in the Dark, nominated for the 2009 Molières and L'Opéra de Quat'sous in residence at the Comédie Française .
Lester CHIO ALONSO is a clarinet teacher at the Gustave Charpentier Conservatory of Paris and the Conservatoire de St Cloud.
He has been part of various formations such as the ensemble Sortie d'Artistes, the baroque ensemble of Toulouse, the Ensemble à vents de Paris, participating in the recording of the CD «Pop Art» by Régis Campo, the Denner Octet, Alma Cuarteto and others. He also collaborates with different orchestras such as the Opéra de Rouen and Les Siècles.
Member of the National Union of Artists and Writers of Cuba, he is at the origin of the various cultural and educational projects between France and Cuba. Founder and artistic director of the national clarinet competitions in Cuba and artistic advisor to the general director of the Mozart Festival Havana, created by the Mozarteum of Salzburg.
In 2015, he was artistic advisor to Jérôme Perrod, President of Buffet Crampon, during a tour of Colombia where an official meeting was organized with the Minister of Culture and leaders of arts education programs in that country.
Invited to festivals in several countries, he performs at concerts and master classes in Russia, France, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico.
