Mopane R13 clarinet
Introduced in 1955, the R13 clarinet is the oldest model in the catalog and still our best seller.
History, tradition and modernity
In your opinion, what is the improbable common point between the strength of railway sleepers, the performance of certain agricultural tools and these new clarinet models? Well these three applications, having a priori no connection between them, all benefit from the incredible properties offered by mopane wood from southern Africa.
As dense as Mozambique ebony – from 1000 to 1300 kg/m3 – mopane presents warm tones of medium brown to reddish brown which harmonize wonderfully with the sparkling appearance of the silver or nickel-plated keys of our wonderful musical instruments.
A success story
In addition to these remarkable mechanical characteristics, mopane manages to enhance this limited series by offering a mellow and warm sound combining softness and brilliance at the same time as powerful and direct projection. This species of wood allows you to explore new colors of sound with both very pure pianissimo nuances and wide and open forte but without any saturation. This limited edition mopane 2021 will be offered with the Grand Siècle aesthetic line – already present on the Legend – which elegantly combines the pink gold of the balls and rings with silver or nickel-plated keywork.
