Bruno Santos was born in January 1991. At the age of 12, he began his musical studies in the Orquestra Ligeira de Cambra and, throughout his journey, attended schools such as the Sociedade Artística Banda de Vale de Cambra, the Conservatório de Música da JOBRA (CMJ), and the University of Aveiro, where he completed his Master's in Music Education (Saxophone) in 2017.
Throughout his academic journey, he had the opportunity to work with renowned saxophonists, such as Claude Delangle, Vincent David, Damien Royannais, Vincent Lê Quang, Masataka Hirano, Christian Wirth, Arno Bornkamp, Jean Marie Londeix, Pablo Coelho, Henrique Portovedo, João Figueiredo, Gilberto Bernardes, Antonio Felipe Belijar, Jay Corre (Jazz Improvisation), Henk van Twillert, Roberto Benitez, and also with chamber music groups like the Amsterdam Saxophone Quartet, QuadQuartet, and Unisax Quartet. He was selected to participate in the “Université Européenne de Saxophone Gap 2013” in France.
He won the 1st prize in the “Terras De La Salette” International Wind Instrument Competition (2015), where he had previously won the 2nd prize (2013), and participated in the New Talents section of FISP 2021. Additionally, Bruno Santos has collaborated with various orchestras such as the Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Banda Amizade - Banda Sinfónica de Aveiro, Orquestra do Conservatório de Música da JOBRA, Orquestra de Sopros do DeCA - University of Aveiro, Aere Symphonic Ensemble, and ARMAB.
Currently, besides conducting various masterclasses throughout Europe, he teaches at the Aveiro Music Conservatory Calouste Gulbenkian. In parallel with his teaching activities, he maintains an active performance schedule, presenting himself in various national and international auditoriums. His discography includes his first album titled “ROAD.” This album received numerous accolades from prominent musicians in the national and international music scene, won the Gold Star in Music Stars Award for “Best Duo,” and sold out three editions.
STAGE” is his new discographic project, quite bold and with unique characteristics, featuring only the baritone saxophone. “STAGE” won two international awards, receiving the Gold Star in Music Stars Award in the categories of “Best Duo” and “Best Concept,” and has already sold out two editions. It includes performances in various venues and the World Saxophone Congress held in Gran Canaria in 2023. In 2024, he has performed multiple times, including solo with the PSP Symphonic Band, and in various venues such as the Rivoli in Porto, the Congress Center in Aveiro, the Arts Center in Águeda, and he is preparing more concerts in Europe.
